NEWS. Olympic Focus on Scotland Preparing for Commonwealth Games and Ryder Cup 2014

02-Aug-2012 Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow, plays host to eight Olympic football matches this summer with the final match at Hampden Park tomorrow (Friday August 3) which will be the Women’s Olympic Tournament Quarter Final.

Beyond football fever, this exciting city has many surprises in store: 2012 is the Year of Creative Scotland and Glasgow, a UNESCO City of Music, is the perfect place to visit with its internationally-acclaimed museums and galleries and stunning architecture.

Just a short train journey away from Glasgow is Scotland’s capital city – Edinburgh. The city comes alive every summer with festival season. In August alone six major festivals turn the historical city into one of the most vibrant stages for world class performers with more than 25,000 artists, entertainers and thinkers populating Edinburgh and over 1,000 shows per day.

The Year of Creative Scotland is the beginning of an exciting programme that embraces London 2012. Looking forward to 2014, Scotland will be hosting some of the world’s major sporting events with Glasgow Commonwealth Games and the Ryder Cup as well as welcoming the world to Scotland with Homecoming 2014.
