IAGTO conventions return with sell-out event in Cadiz, Andalucia

IAGTO’s 6th annual Spain Convention – the IAGTO Andalucia Trophy Cadiz (IATC) – originally scheduled for May 2020 will get off to a flying start this Friday 20 May 2022 with the arrival of golf tour operators for golf fam trips in Huelva, Seville and Cadiz.

Thanks to the sponsorship of the Cadiz Tourist Promotion Board and the Andalucia Tourist Board we are going to accommodating 300 delegates at the main IATC event from 23-25 May in the city of Jerez de la Frontera. The convention has been fully booked for over a month, demonstrating both the central importance of Andalucia and Spain more generally to the golf tourism industry and the need for golf tour operators to meet face to face with their Spanish partners to plan the next phase of the recovery.

On Tuesday 24 May the IAGTO Trophy itself will take place over two great courses – Sherry Golf Jerez and Montecastillo Golf Jerez – with 200 golf tour operators and suppliers playing together in a team format competition. In memory of IAGTO’s own Carlton Carugati we will be introducing the #CarltonCup for the most memorable moment of the day, and we are delighted that his wife Leila will be joining us at the Trophy presentation that evening.

Of the 121 buyer delegates, the vast majority will be from 24 different outbound golf markets in the EU with golf tour operators also travelling from the USA, Canada, Argentina and Colombia. Over 80 of these will be participating in pre and post familiarization visits throughout Andalucia, including different regions of Cadiz as well as Huelva and Sevilla and the Costa del Sol, which will be hosting the Solheim Cup, 500 days from now!

IAGTO member golf resorts, golf clubs, hotels, golf DMCs, transportation companies and regional tourist boards will be travelling to Jerez from across the length and breadth of Andalucia, as well as the previous host destinations of Tenerife, Murcia, Costa Blanca and Costa Brava.

A record 2520 pre-scheduled appointments have already been set up for the one day of meetings that will take place at the Museos de la Atalaya on Wednesday 25 May. IAGTO has introduced a new event App for the event which has been launched today to enable communications and meeting scheduling throughout the event.

Thanks to the support and generosity of our host destination, all 300 delegates will be able to enjoy the return of IAGTO in-person networking in the pedestrian-friendly city of Jerez at some remarkable locations. Buyers will be invited to the Claustros de Santo Domingo to meet with Andalucian suppliers on Monday evening, while the IAGTO Trophy Dinner will take place at the world famous Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre, preceded by a Networking session and a show in the equestrian arena.

To close the event we will be hosted at the Bodega Gonzalez Byass, a truly iconic winery at the heart of the world’s most prestigious sherry region. IAGTO has also identified a couple of fantastic local watering holes to enable more social networking late into the night.

The right event, the right location, the right time and we feel so lucky to be able to stage the return of the IAGTO Trophy right here in Andalucia where I am writing today’s big story.
