With the support of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, one of the initiatives taken to expand golf tourism in 2019 was to join the International Association of Golf Agencies, a global organization that specializes in golf tourism. Various golf clubs are conducting campaigns to promote Azerbaijan as a new golf tourism destination. As a result, with the assistance of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, Dreamland, and Azerbaijan National Golf Clubs, Baltic Breaks, the most influential golf trip operator in the Baltic countries, 12 members of the golf team visited Azerbaijan. The guests visited the attractions of Baku and Guba for seven days and competed in the “Azeri Cup 2021” golf championship at Dreamland and the Azerbaijan National Golf Club.
From 04.10 to 07.10 2021, the Championship in Stableford format was held in the National Golf Club in Guba, and from 07.10 to 09.10 2021, at the Dreamland Golf Club. The players won the second round at Dreamland Golf Club. Leho Alliksoo, Jury Ross, and Margarita Ross took first, second, and third place in the Azerbaijani championship, respectively. Golfers were awarded trophies and other prizes.
Svetlana Vinogradova, a representative of Baltic Breaks, expressed pleasure with the growth of hospitality and golf tourism in Azerbaijan. She said that Azerbaijan has golf clubs that meet international standards and that the country’s efforts in this area are laudable.
